Carp Fishing

Carp fishing is a popular angling sport focused on catching carp, often using specialized techniques, bait like boilies or corn, and equipment like bivouacs for long sessions. In the Netherlands, a fishing permit is required and there are many suitable waters. It involves attracting carp to a feeding spot with particles, using a hair rig to allow the bait to move freely, and patience, sometimes for days, waiting for the right moment when the bite alarm goes off.

What is carp fishing?
It is a form of coarse fishing (whitefishing), but with a focus on specific carp techniques.

Equipment & Techniques
Bait: Commonly used baits include boilies (hardened dough balls), corn, and particles, often with their own recipes.
Hair Rig: A technique in which the bait is presented separately from the hook, allowing the fish to feed more naturally.
Bathing: Regularly feeding a spot with particles attracts carp.
Equipment: Special carp rods, reels, tents (bivvies), bedchairs, and bite alarms are common.
